About this project
A major transport interchange, the Adelaide Central Bus Station, is a part of the Balfours site redevelopment.
The building design incorporates a strong visual motif which becomes the marker for the Station and the wider redevelopment of a whole city block. The facades to Franklin and Grote Streets are designed as contemporary metallic screens, alluding to the extruded shapes of vehicles, to convey a message or signal associated with transportation. A carpark for 600 cars sits behind the screens, while a sleeve of affordable housing overlooks a new square.
