The new offices and representative reception spaces for the British Consulate in Melbourne occupy 400m2 overlooking Treasury Gardens. Denton Corker Marshall’s London and Melbourne studios undertook the design in close collaboration with the future occupants.
The fitout was briefed to be highly flexible with reconfigured meeting rooms of varying sizes. All conference and function spaces have access to a catering kitchen, suitable for hosting international guests.
The high-quality workspace allows the consulate team to work collaboratively while providing privacy, when required, to respond to tasks with high security demands.
The existing building, first constructed in the 1980s, did not meet today’s compliance requirements with regard to amenities and services infrastructure. A new accessible toilet, upgrades to the HVAC system and contemporary lighting design were all important parts of the refurbishment.
